And what did Julia make of her bronze? "I feel amazed. This has been an unbelievable day. To win another medal is just a dream come true. I dedicated this to my grandpa. He had always encouraged me, but he passed away a year ago. We had hoped he would make it to this Games, but it's a great feeling that he has been watching from above."
And in case you didn't know, Chicago's Shani Davis is going for a record third straight individual Olympic gold, as is his US teammate snowboarder Shaun White. His specialist distance is 1,000m though - so let's not be too sad if he doesn't do it today.
Always sweeping, Susie, always. Unless you are competing at the upcoming Paralympic Games, where sweeping in wheelchair curling is prohibited, least of all because it's just not feasible for the athletes to sweep the ice from their chairs.
In a parallel universe over at the Ice Cube, the Swiss - perhaps hearing news from the ice hockey arena - meted out revenge in the women's curling competition. Final score: Switzerland 7-4 USA.
Back on the ice, the unbeaten USA women's ice hockey team found the net nine times against the Swiss team. Final score: USA 9-0 Switzerland
Just one more thing on Ole B. His win Saturday saw him become - at the frankly youthful age of 40 - the oldest Olympic gold medalist in an individual event at the Winter Olympics.
If you would like to share some Winter Olympic fashion that has caught your eye then the place to do that is to send in your comments to this live blog or get in touch on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #CNNSochi. We'd love to hear from you.
Hello again. Thank you Chris. That Sochi snow cone (egg sandwich) was delicious but in truth I'm being re-energized by some fabulous Olympic fashion from the Russian curling team now on the ice against Great Britain. Stand by for a photo...
It's been brief, but wonderful, I'm sure you'll agree. Sarah Holt is re-energized, thanks to a delicious looking egg sandwich, and she is back in the saddle to guide you through the next portion of Monday's action...
Men's 1500m speed skating final:
Gold - Charles Hamelin (Canada)
Silver - Tianyu Han (China)
Bronze - Victor An (Russia)
That is Hamelin's third Winter Olympics gold - he won two on the same day in Vancouver four years ago - and he goes straight over to his girlfriend, fellow speed skater Marianne St.-Gelais, to celebrate.
As you'd expect, Russia's Victor An has the backing of most of the crowd. Here we go.....
The Winter Games is about to adorn its latest gold medallist, as the men's 1500m speed skating final is poised to begin.
Thanks Sarah, a well-earned Sochi pit stop after a morning of graft. While she's out for lunch we'll have plenty to focus on, including speed skating, curling and biathlon.
Well, that slalom excitement has almost tipped me over the edge. Hanging tough, playing the waiting game and skiing last - I'm impatient at the best of times so not sure how these Olympic skiers do it when a gold is at stake. On that note, I am handing over to my colleague Chris Murphy while I go and grab some a Sochi themed snow cone...
Mancuso goes . She's off to an attacking start in the slalom and takes a one second lead from the downhill...
And then there was one. Lara Gut scuffs her slalom and she is not able to finish her run.
