And Kamil Stoch takes the gold with a jump of 105.5 meters and a total score of 278.0! Impressive stuff from the Pole, who I'm reliably informed built his first ski jump when he was just five years old. Is that what all Olympic champions do in their youth? Whatever happened to computer games and playing hide and seek?
and the new Champion will be Kamil Stoch, Poland! I greet CNN from Warsaw :)wolekat 6:47 PM
Let's hear from Anastasiya Kuzmina, Slovakia's Russian born gold medal winner in the 7.5 km biathlon sprint earlier today:
On her brother, Anton Shipulin, who finished fourth (competing for Russia) in the men's 10 km sprint on Saturday she had this to say:
"This victory was for him, too. I hope that it inspires him for tomorrow's pursuit. He can win."
The inevitable has come to pass. Russia takes gold in the team figure skating event at the Iceberg Skating Palace. 15-year-old Yulia Lipnitskaya puts in an outstanding performance to put the Russians out of reach of everyone else with one event (the team ice dance) still to come later this evening. All that remains is to see who can claim silver and bronze.
